Adjunct Instructor, Graphic Design

BACKGROUND

The Art Department at FPU offers a well-rounded curriculum for students in Studio Art, Art Education and Graphic Design. FPU’s Art major has been a growing program since 2007 and continues to attract student interest in Graphic Design.

SCHOOL PROFILE

  • The School of Arts & Sciences (SAS) offers academic programs for two student population groups: Traditional Undergraduate and Degree Completion.
  • Seventeen majors and thirty-eight minors for traditional undergraduate student.

ROLE

  • The Instructor of Graphic Design will:
  • Teach classes in Graphic Design including: Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Graphic Design, Typography.
  • Have proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat DC, Premier etc.
  • Encourage and promote student involvement in the local Graphic Design Industry.
  • Assist in recruiting Graphic Design students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the university’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning.
  • Earned MA degree in Graphic Design (a BA degree will be considered with substantial industry experience).
  • Experience in, or aptitude for, college-level teaching with demonstrated excellence in the areas of Graphic Design.
  • Ability to work with students, staff and faculty in a collegial environment.
  • Evidence of involvement in a church or the larger Christian community.

Preferred

  • Experience with online learning management systems (such as Moodle or Canvas) and teaching in online formats.
  • Experienced in using the online UI design tool Figma.
  • Involvement and contacts in the local Graphic Design industry and the ability to encourage student involvement.
  • Ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of issues pertaining to the relationship between Graphic Design and the Christian faith.

COMPENSATION

Dependent on qualifications and experience.

  • Master’s rate $23.87 overtime rate   $35.81 
  • PhD rate $28.82 overtime rate   $43.22 
  • Overtime is calculated at time + ½
